In the Parish of Putney both of our churches are supporters of Inclusive Church, welcoming those of all sexualities and gender identities into our community. As you are probably aware, however, not everyone in the Church of England feels the same way, and discussions are currently taking place about whether the teaching and practice of the Church of England should change to permit, for example, same-sex marriages to be blessed in church. This discussion process and the resources provided for it are called ‘Living in Love and Faith’.
As part of these discussions, the bishops of the Church of England have asked church members to participate in a course and then offer them our feedback. We will participate in this course as part of Wandsworth Deanery, our local cluster of Anglican churches, and the course will be facilitated by Susan Bolen (Vicar of St Paul’s, Wimbledon Parkside), Steven Melluish (Vicar of St Michael’s, Southfields), and Daniel Trott (Team Vicar of All Saints’, Putney).
More details will come out in the summer, but for now please note that the course will be taking place on five Monday evenings:
13th September 20th September 27th September 4th October 11th October
