Civic Service of Lament and Hope,
26th September, 6pm
On 26th September, 6pm, St Mary’s will hold a civic service of reflection on the pandemic Lament & Hope with Churches Together in Putney and Roehampton. We’re not intending to mark the end of the pandemic as covid will remain but we have been through a lot and space and time for lament and hope before God is appropriate.
We hope that the Mayor of Wandsworth, Cllr Richard Field will speak on behalf of the borough and Fleur Anderson, our MP as well as local councillors will also attend. The service will include readings, prayers and music and reflections from differing perspectives on the virus: a clinician, someone made redundant, a head teacher and others hoping to represent a broad view of experiences.
There will also be space to allow the names of those who died locally to be read aloud, as well as prayerfully remembering the countless others from the diocese; across the nation and the world.
If you have a name you would like to be read out at the service please either add it to the list on the St Mary’s church noticeboard or contact Julie in the parish office:
