Services

Services at St Mary's Church, Putney High Street, London, SW15 1SN

Parish Eucharist

Our Sunday services come in two flavours:  at 10am there is the Parish Eucharist during which, in term-time, Sunday School  groups run for children from nursery school age to year 9.

There is – throughout the year – a creche for smaller children and the Cromwell Room, separated from the main church by a glass wall, is set apart for babies and toddlers to play as their adults sit with them and take part in the service. We hope that the Parish Eucharist is an un-fussy but reverential communion service using traditional hymns and thought-provoking sermons to enable people to re-charge their batteries for the coming week.

We have a fantastic Sunday School team and all ages welcome at St Mary’s! For the details of our provisions for children please check the heading “What is there for?” and click on the drop down option “Children.”

Please sign up to our Church Mouse communications to receive the weekly “Invitation To Service” and “Newsletter.”   by clicking on this link: https://stmarys.parishofputney.com/how-do-i/the-church-mouse/

Caritas

For those wanting more peace and quiet, Caritas, at 6pm, is a tranquil, reflective service of Holy Communion.

Both services last an hour.

Taizé

Every third Friday of the month there will be a Taizé style service. Silent prayer begins at 18h, the service at 18.15, and a simple shared meal together will follow the service.

2026 dates: 20th February, 20th March, 17th April, 15th May, 19th June, (July and August TBD), 18th September, 16th October, 20th November, 18th December.

If you’re unfamiliar, Taizé is an ecumenical monastic community set in the hills of Burgandy France and is home to a community of brothers (both Catholic and Protestant) from all over the world. Throughout the year, they welcome young people to pilgrim to the hill and live the life of the brothers for a week. Click here https://www.taize.fr/en for more info.

The worship is based in meditative chants (songs) sung in all the world’s languages, silence, and prayer. Do as you are comfortable—you can sing, or listen, or pray.

Please email clare.harbin@parishofputney.co.uk if you have any questions or would like to be involved in the service or meal preparation.

Children's Services

Each school week there are either Sunday school sessions or inter-generational services appropriate for children.  Some Sundays we begin the service together in the Church, have a time apart for age appropriate teaching and then join together for Holy Communion.
