Lent, Holy Week and Easter 2018 at St Mary’s


4th March, Lent brunch, 10am                  

After the service bacon rolls and refreshments will be served, with a cake stall and bottle tombola, in aid of The 2018 Bishop’s Lent Appeal, supporting local projects in Southwark and our link Zimbabwean diocese.

11th March, Mothering Sunday, 10am

All Age Mothering Sunday service

Weekly during Lent

Tuesdays             Breathing Space, 9.30pm, St Mary’s

Meeting in the candle lit Sanctuary at St Mary’s, the doors close at 9.45pm when we begin the meditation, with a short prayer, 20 minutes’ silence, ending at 10.15pm.

Wednesdays       Contemplative Eucharist, 8pm, All Saints’ Putney

Designed for those wanting some quiet and contemplative time at the end of the day; informal, quiet and prayerful and includes different specially selected music each week.

Holy Week 

Palm Sunday, 25th March

10 am         Procession of Palms from All Saints’ to St Mary’s

We remember Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem as we walk with our donkey to St Mary’s for the Liturgy of Palm Sunday (adults) and special activities for the children

6 pm          Palm Sunday Caritas at St Mary’s

A reflective service for the start of Holy Week for adults

Noon          Mid-day prayer and Stations of the Cross (St Mary’s)

8 pm          Meditation and Compline (All Saints’)

Tuesday in Holy Week (27th March)

Noon          Mid-day prayer and Stations of the Cross (St Mary’s)

9.30 pm     Breathing Space meditation for Passiontide (St Mary’s)

Wednesday in Holy Week (28th March)

Noon          Stations of the Cross and 12.30 Eucharist (St Mary’s)

8pm           Meditative Eucharist and Stations of the Cross (All Saints’)

Maundy Thursday (29th March)

8 pm          Liturgy of foot washing and The Last Supper (All Saints’)

Vigil until midnight in All Saints’

Good Friday (30th March)

Noon –       The Way of the Cross (St Mary’s)

1.30 pm     We follow Jesus on his way to Calvary moving around the church site with meditative prayers and simple song

2 pm          Liturgy of Good Friday with sung Passion (St Mary’s)

Easter at St Mary’s

Holy Saturday (31st March)

11 am         Children are invited to help make the Easter Garden. Hot cross buns too!

Easter Day (1st April)

6 am          Dawn Vigil and First Eucharist of Easter

Starting in the garden by the river as the sun rises, we greet the Lord’s Resurrection and process into church.

Followed by croissants, bucks fizz and coffee.

10 am         Easter Eucharist for all the family with distribution of Easter eggs and unearthing the Alleluia Banner!
